I’ve mentioned that I take a deep-water running class at a local health club as often as time permits. One of the unexpected benefits is the wisdom I get from the women in the water, who are generally five or more years older than I am.
No surprise that I’m learning from these wise women!
This week, I heard two random comments during my class that I thought were useful when it comes to creating a prosperity mindset. I wanted to pass them along.
Prosperity Mindset #1: Someone Else’s Success Is Good News for You, Too
One woman in my class is a longtime CEO of her own business. One of her clients has invested in a company that most people would consider a risky endeavor. But the company also has a couple of people whose names and backing could make the difference between success and failure.
That’s when my water-running colleague said something that still sticks with me. It’s obvious, really, but for some reason, it landed.
Her client’s success is her tangential success.
Her client will be making more money, which means spending more money, hopefully with my classmate’s company.
But there’s a bigger message here than the obvious business opportunity.
It’s a reminder to root for other people’s success. Acknowledge it. Notice it. Celebrate it.
Success doesn’t discriminate. It may look like someone else’s success, but you, or someone you know, may benefit from it as it ripples outward.
Someone else’s success doesn’t have to mean less success for you. In fact, it may create opportunities you couldn’t have imagined.
Prosperity Mindset #2: Money Flows
Another woman in my class was talking about her dad, who has since passed away. He used to play in a weekly poker game, and he always told her that money in the game of life was like money in the game of poker.
It didn’t really matter who won or lost on any given evening.
The money might leave his hands and go into someone else’s one night, but a few weeks later, it could flow right back into his hands again.
The point?
Money, like water, might flow up for you in one moment and down the next. But it keeps moving and is always offering you something.
Sometimes you’re on the receiving end. Sometimes you’re on the giving end. It’s not always predictable but a temporary dip doesn’t mean you are not prosperous in other ways and a dip does not last forever
A Bonus Prosperity Mindset Reminder
I’m taking a three-part course on Oracle decks because I’m in the process of creating one myself. The homework for week one was to ask a question and then choose an Oracle card from a deck of your choosing.
Since I was writing this newsletter, I decided my question would be:
What do I need to know about having a prosperity mindset?
Lo and behold, the card I drew was Divine Source from the Divine Abundance card deck by Tosha Silver.

I knew this was a wonderful reminder for me, but also one I wanted to share with you.
Money moves. It is a form of energy exchanged between people and through the world around us.
It can change form.
It might take the form of a job offer, a new client, a new friend, or an unexpected windfall. It might show up in an opportunity you hadn’t considered or through someone else’s success.
Having a prosperity mindset is noticing all the ways you are already prospering.
Stay open to al the ways prosperity is trying to reach you.
Prosperity isn’t something you have to chase. Prosperity is something you learn make room for.
