During my meditation the other morning an airplane “flew across my mind” and I knew in an instant the message it was wanting to deliver.

The journey is the destination.

In my 2+ decades of helping women during their job search and in their career planning a common theme is that they’re not there yet.

That they need to have one more skill, climb up one more rung on the ladder, get one more accolade, reach that magic salary number and then they will have arrived.

No wonder our careers leave us feeling stressed and lacking.

If the destination is always in front of us, how can we possibly ever get there?

So today I thought it would be fun to do a journal prompt where we challenge this idea that we have not arrived.

What if your career journey is your destination?

What if you are exactly where you are supposed to be right now?

4 Career Journey Journal Prompts

  • Pick one prompt
  • Journal for no less than 10 minutes on the one prompt
  • TIP: If you feel like you have run into a brick wall, just write anything.Example: “I can’t think of anything else to write so I am writing this.” “Maybe I am done writing, but I am going to keep going anyhow” “My career journey as my destination is interesting topic as I already wrotebut here is more that is interesting …” and BOOM, you are back on track.
  • Read through what you wrote. What ah-ha’s did you have?
  • Do another prompt … or be done! Good work!

Journal Prompts

  • How is my career journey my destination?
  • If I am exactly where I am meant to be on my career journey, what does that mean?
  • How has my career journey been a grand adventure thus far?
  • What are my thoughts about my career journey?

When you think about your journey as a destination, you realize that you always have everything you need for the next step in the journey.

You are always enough.

You are never lacking.

Time to enjoy the journey!

You’ve arrived!
