Why Is Committing to Career Change So Hard?

I love Starbucks. I love my neighborhood store in particular.

I love going through the drive-thru and ordering my regular drink and they say, โ€œLaurie, donโ€™t you want coconut milk?โ€. Yes, I do! You know me. โค๏ธ ๐Ÿค—

I love the taste of my mocha latte.

I love that โ€œfirst sip feelingโ€.

I love the ritual of stepping away from my work day and driving to the store, chatting with the baristas, and coming home to enjoy my favorite show and my latte.

Butโ€ฆ

The money I was spending was starting to bother me.

The calories were adding up and not in a good way.

And I felt like it was changing my energy, blocking spiritual downloads, and I was not having that!

For all those reasons, I decided to give up regular Starbucks.

Last July.

Except I did not commit.

I just thought about it and decided I wanted to do it.

What I needed to do was to DECIDE TO COMMIT!

And I finally did it 3 weeks ago.

And it wasnโ€™t hard!

I simply said, โ€œToday is the day. I am committed to quitting Starbucks, managing the feelings I know I am going to have in the face of the change, and seeing what is now possible with my commitment.โ€

I instantly felt a sense of peace. No more back and forth. No more deciding, not deciding. Just a commitment.

Why did it take me so long to commit?

Because committing is hard. It means change.

And we often focus on what we are giving up versus what we are going to gain.

Itโ€™s what happens on the other side of the commitment that deserves our full attention.

Amazing Things Happen Once We Commit

The transformations I have seen my coaching clients make once they decide to commit to their career dreams have been so inspirational.

And it does not have to be a big commitment.

And the change does not have to take a long time.

When you’re fully committed, things can change in an instant. Doors start to open. Ideas start popping.

Donโ€™t simply decide you want your career to be different. Commit to it!

Career Reset starts March 26th.

If you have been thinking about joining now is the time. You may even have decided you want to at some point but have been putting it off.

Donโ€™t wait. Commit today!

We close the doors on March 24th.

I have opened up my calendar, including the next 2 Saturdays to talk with anyone thinking about committing that might have questions.

DO NOT FOCUS on the time, money, or what other people might think.

Focus on how you want to feel, what you would rather be doing and how instead!

Make a commitment to yourself.

Send me an email at [email protected] and let me know you want to schedule a time to talk and we will work it out.
