1 Way To Confirm You Are On The Right Career Path

Have you ever questioned whether you were on the right path or worried that you were leaving opportunity on the shelf?

Are you getting to a point in your life where you’re thinking about mortality and that leaves you feeling a sense of urgency?

You want to make sure that you’ve experienced all you were meant to experience, that you’ve made the impact you were intended to make.

You are not alone. I have wondered the same thing. As have my friends and a multitude of others who have written books and poems about this very subject.

I also hear it from my coaching clients who wonder if theyโ€™re on the right path.

My response is always the same โ€ฆ

โ€œYou are exactly where you meant to be. How do we know? Because this is where you are!โ€

Right now, in this present moment, is exactly where you’re meant to be.

ยท You have all the experiences you were meant to have up to this point.

ยท You’re surrounded by the people you’re meant to be surrounded with.

ยท You’re doing the work you’re meant to be doing.

If this were not true then you would be in a different place, having different experiences, surrounded by different people, doing something different.

So, if you wonder if you’re on the “right” path you can rest assured, you are.

Everything you’ve experienced, all the choices you’ve made, all the opportunities you’ve taken advantage of, all the things you have said no to have led you to this place in your career.

Uh oh! Is this it? Are you saying I am stuck in this career?

If you look around yourself and you’re not loving the work you are doing, how you are doing it, or who you are doing it with and for, WONDERFUL!

This simply means that you are being called to make changes in your career.

Your changes will change your experiences, impact, opportunities, community, career, AND LIFE! That is how change works.

What you need to ask yourself is: what are the changes you want to make and how committed are you to making them โ€ฆ despite being uncomfortable with change, despite what other people might think, despite how change might impact your income, your status, or your time.

Imagine you are 3 years in the future. If you were in your ideal career and I asked you to describe to me what you are doing, who you were working with, how you were working and why you loved it what would you tell me?

How far off are you from the vision today?

It is worth going after whether it feels possible or nearly impossible because you have this dream.

This dream is real. It deserves to have a chance.

I can tell you from my own dream-chasing experience that even if, 3 years from now, what you told me today is not exactly how it looks in your future I

can guarantee you that you will still be happier and more satisfied having chased it versus letting things just happen to you and your career.

PLUS โ€ฆ You will know that you are exactly where you are meant to be in your career because this is a career path you deliberately chose.

I believe in your career dreams.
